Missouri Head Coach Kim Anderson
Opening statement:
“I'm really happy for these guys. It didn't look very good with three or four minutes to go. I thought our defense was really good down the stretch. We made some good plays to get some open shots. It's been a long season. There's been a lot of highs and lows, I'm really proud that these guys hung in there. We were able to hang in there and get a win. Keanau (Post) and Keith (Shamburger), I appreciate all that they've done, and I've enjoyed coaching them.”
On Shamburger's performance:
“I've been telling him to be more aggressive, just because we're offensively challenged at times. Early on, he came off some ball screens, and he knocked a couple shots down. He did the same thing at Auburn. I thought he would play well with his mom here. That's the way to go out, making the game-winning shot.”
On Keanu Post:
“I wish I could coach him another year. He's a great guy. He hasn't had the success that I'm sure he would have wanted to have. I just wanted him to know how much Melissa and I appreciated him. We don't always tell guys that.”
On thanking the fans after the game:
“There's been a core group of people that have been really supportive, I just wanted to thank them. We have great fans. This is not what Missouri fans are used to, it's obviously not what I'm used to, but it is what it is. It happened. I will say it right now. Thank you to all of the people who have supported us.”
Missouri Player Quotes
Redshirt senior G Keith Shamburger
On how he finished his career:
“My mom was here, I finally got her out here. I just wanted to get a win. I didn't care about the points or anything tonight. I just wanted to get a win on senior night, leave here with a win.”
On the finals minutes of the game:
“That last couple of minutes we played with a lot of heart. We played with a lot of defense and we played with a lot heart. That was the difference between the last three minutes and the rest of the game. We played like it was a life or death situation.”
On his time at Mizzou:
“I wish I was here for all four years, it stinks that I was only here for a couple of months. I just went out there and gave it my all. I am going to miss this place, and I am going to love this place like home. Coach A helped me out a lot this year, and I tried to do all I could for him.”
Head Coach Bruce Pearl
On what happened in the last two minutes of the game:
“We played great to get there. I thought KT Harrell did a great job. He showed why I think he can be a first team all-conference player. He leads our league in scoring. You got a chance to see a terrific player tonight. They knocked down three pointers and got a couple in transition. We answered two of them, but for us it was our defense. They scored on six of the last seven possessions. It's hard to win when the other teams scores like that.”
On his team's five game losing streak, and how they will prep for the SEC Tournament:
“Our boys never quit. Kim's (Anderson) players haven't quit. Both teams are out there playing hard. You have to be proud of that because both teams are struggling. We are short-handed without our starting guards. We are the smallest team in the league. That's the best TJ Lang has played. I'm proud of my team.”
On any differences of playing Missouri tonight versus earlier in the season:
“I think both teams are playing better. We came in with a winning record during that time. Both teams hadn't played through a lot of SEC games yet. Now, I believe both teams played with a little more confidence.”
Freshman Guard TJ Lang
On what happened the final two minutes of the game:
“They made plays and executed. All the credit to them. They did what they needed to do to get the win in the end.”
On how Mizzou's Keith Shamburger played tonight:
“He can play. He was one of our focal points on defense, and we came out slow on him. We gave him open shots, and he set the tone for the rest of the game.”
On how he thought he personally played offensively:
“We got out of sync. We had difficulty hearing the play calls because it started to get loud. We didn't execute as well as they did towards the end.”
