
Men’s Golf Second Overall After 36 Holes at NGI

Maricopa, Ariz. – The Mizzou men's golf team remains in contention at the National Golf Invitational through two rounds, placing second of 10 teams following Saturday's action.
The Tigers own a 36-hole score of -29 after posting an 11-under 277 on Saturday. Grand Canyon leads the tournament at -37, followed by the Tigers, Rhode Island (-28), William & Mary (-22) and Wyoming (-21).
Sophomore Trent Mierl led Mizzou on the second day, matching his season-best round with a five-under 67. Mierl got off to a strong start with a run of five-straight birdies from the third to seventh holes. He added two more on the day to move to -8 for the tournament, tied for seventh place.
Freshman Esteban Cruz Bonilla is also tied at seventh at -8 after recording his second-straight day of four-under golf. Cruz Bonilla continued his top-10 push thanks to a strong front nine that featured two birdies in addition to an eagle on the par-five seventh hole.
Brock Snyder is also in the top 10, finishing the second round in ninth at -7 (66-71), while Virgilio Paz is at -5 (68-71) and Reese Roberts is at even par (68-76).
The final round of action at the National Golf Invitational is set for Sunday morning with the Tigers teeing off at 10:50 a.m. CT.
