
Track and Field Sends Three to NCAA Championship Final

A trio of field athletes will compete for champion titles in Eugene.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri track and field heads out west and travels three Tigers to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 10-11 at Hayward Field.
Sam Innes competes for the title in men's hammer throw, with Valentina Barrios and Skylar Ciccolini competing for the championship in women's javelin.
Innes opens the event for Mizzou on Wednesday, June 10 at 4:30 p.m. CT. Barrios and Ciccolini represent the Black and Gold Thursday, June 11 at 8:15 p.m. CT.
TIGERS ON THE TRACK
Innes was the first to lock in his spot for the final event after placing eighth at the regional contest with a throw of 67.83m (222-6). The senior, ranked No. 10 nationally, seeks Mizzou's first hammer throw title in program history for both men and women. Innes is the only Missouri athlete to compete in both indoor and outdoor national championships for the 2026 campaign, claiming First Team All-American honors in weight throw with a sixth place mark of 22.70m (74-5.75).
Barrios goes for a back-to-back trophy in javelin after breaking her own school record at last year's contest with a 62.00m (203-5), becoming the first national champion in program history for the event. The senior seeks to become the second Missouri woman to earn more than one national title, after Karssa Schweizer claimed five. Barrios advanced to the final round after winning the regional contest for the second consecutive year with a throw of 57.35m (188-2), additionally winning the SEC Outdoor Championship with a 58.31m (191-4), the No. 3 national mark.
Ciccolini enters Hayward Field for the fourth time in her career, looking to improve her best result of fifth with a throw of 56.03m (183-10) in 2023. She qualified for this year's contest with an 11th place result of 50.51m (165-8) at the West Regional Championships. Ciccolini ranks No. 4 nationally for women's javelin with a personal best of 57.45m (188-6), standing No. 3 in program history.
LAST TIME AT THE NCAA OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2025 national competition was highlighted by Barrios' javelin title, followed by a bronze medal from Callan Saldutto, earning the best men's javelin finish in school history with a 76.88m (252-3).
Kristi Perez-Snyman contributed points to the women's 20th place result, its third-best finish in school history, by taking sixth in high jump with a 1.87m (6-1.5). Claudina Diaz followed in 11th for the event, jumping 1.84m (6-0.5). On the track, Alicia Burnett placed 11th in the women's 100m semifinals in 11.11.
Skylar Coffey notched 21st in men's discus throw with a 55.59m (182-4), with the men finishing 46th overall.
