Women's Golf Takes 5th at Spring Opener

Tucson, Ariz. - The University of Missouri women's golf team opened its 2000 spring season with a 5th-place finish at the Mountain View Collegiate, held at Mountain View Golf Course, in Tucson, Ariz.

The tournament, which featured 36 holes of play (18 both Saturday and Sunday), wrapped up today, with Oklahoma claiming the team title with a two-round team total of 604. Missouri was just 12 shots back in 5th place, with a team total of 616.

Senior Tobi Probst notched the first top-10 finish of the 1999-2000 season, as she placed 6th individually with a two-round total of 149, just seven strokes off the pace. Her final-round 72 tied her collegiate best.

Junior Amelia Moses gave MU a second top-15 finisher, as she placed 13th overall, with a total of 153. Other Tiger competitors included sophomore Nisha Sadekar and freshman Elin Ohlsson, who each tied for 31st with identical totals of 158, and junior Jamie Tucker, who tied for 48th overall with a 164 total. Senior Jill Rosen also made the trip, and competed as an individual. She tied for 26th overall with a two-round 157.

Next up for Head Coach Tom Loyd's team is the Midwest Classic, to be held Feb. 25-27 in Dallas, Texas.
