Lincoln, Neb. - The University of Missouri women's golf team held its position today in the final round of the Alltel Husker Invitational, held at Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln, Neb., where the Tigers opened their 2000 fall season by finishing fourth. Missouri entered today's final round of play in fourth place as a team, and shot a team score of 304 on Tuesday, which left them with a three-round total of 923. That was 22 strokes behind tournament champion Nebraska, which won with a team score of 901. Texas Tech was second with a 914 team score, followed by Oklahoma (917) and MU.
Tiger senior Jamie Tucker got her fall season off to a rousing start, as she placed second overall among competitors, shooting a three-round score of 225. Her total, which was nine-over par for the tournament, was eight shots back of medallist Sarah Sasse of host Nebraska, who claimed the individual crown with a 217 total. MU's Tucker shot rounds of 75, 76 and 74 for her score.
Senior Amelia Moses, the reigning Big 12 Individual Champion, notched a top-10 finish in her first outing of the season, as well. Moses tied for seventh place overall, with a three round total of 227 (74-78-75).
Sophomore Elin Ohlsson was next up for Head Coach Tom Loyd's Tigers, as the Vetlanda, Sweden native came in at 236 for the three rounds (77-82-77).
Junior Nisha Sadekar finished in 39th place individually with a total of 240 (84-78-78), while freshman Tara Jacobsen tied for 40th overall with a 241 total (81-80-80) in her first collegiate competition.
Missouri is off for a few weeks, and will next get back into competition at the Big 12 Fall Preview, which is set for Oct. 2-3 in Waco, Texas.
