Missouri Soccer Tops Colorado 2-0

ReBoulder, Colo.-The University of Missouri women's soccer team defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 2-0 to boost its season record to 8-4 on the year and 3-2 in Big 12 Conference play.

The teams battled to a 0-0 standstill at the half each taking nine shots. Despite playing a controlled and precise game, Missouri was unable to find the net against the Buffaloes in the first 45 minutes.

The Tigers reentered the second period poised. Mizzou used fluid ball movement and field vision to out maneuver Colorado. Missouri found its groove in the remaining 20 minutes of the game pounding the Buffalo net. Freshman Tamara Kochen, an Israeli national team member, scored her second goal of the season and her first game-winner. Ashley Gibbs knocked a pass to Kristen Heil who sailed a loft to Kochen who dropped a hard shot to the right corner of the Colorado net. Coming in 10 minutes later, sophomore Melissa McLellan powered through CU's defensive line to score an unassisted goal.

Overall, Missouri tied Colorado with 15 shots. Goalkeeper Megan Duncan boosts her season record to 6-4 tallying her fourth shutout of the year. She made six saves in the game.

Missouri resumes Big 12 Conference action on Sun., Oct. 14 at 10:00 a.m., when it faces Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.
