Freshman Alisha Robinson Wins Cat Classic Floor Title

Columbia, Mo.-The Missouri Tigers rounded out the 2002 State Farm Cat Classic in grand style throwing solid routines on each event. After winning the all-around last night, freshman Alisha Robinson set a new Missouri record nailing a 9.950 on the floor exercise. The score is the second Missouri freshman record Robinson has set this season and is a new Cat Classic high to boot. Robinson tied in second-place for Mizzou on the vault and balance beam nailing a 9.825 on both apparatus.

Junior Leah Gremaud had another solid night on the balance beam taking top honors in the individual championship for the second evening. Gremaud tied her Missouri all-time record scoring a 9.925 during team competition and won the individual title scoring a 9.900. On the floor exercise, Gremaud tied for fifth-place with a 9.825 routine.

Junior Alina Hamm topped the night tying for fifth on the floor exercise (9.825) and sixth on the uneven bars (9.725).

Freshman Rachael Dombart highlighted the individual competition throwing her career-high on the balance beam scoring a 9.800. Junior Laura Forbes posted a 9.850 to tie for third-place on floor and sophomore Andrea Nervig tied for fourth on bars with a 9.750.

Topping the field, Brigham Young's Jamie Mabray took the beam title while fellow Cougar Kelly Evanson won the vault. Both athletes recorded a 9.900 in their event. Auburn Tigers Sally Cantrell won the uneven bars competition scoring a 9.825.

Missouri returns to Big 12 action next weekend when they travel to Ames, Iowa, to take-on Iowa State on Fri., Feb. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
