Columbia, Mo.-The No. 28 ranked University of Missouri women's gymnastics team hosted its final home meet of the season welcoming the No. 10 ranked Iowa State to the Hearnes Center. Keeping in step with their 2002 phenomena, the Tigers recorded a new program high scoring a 195.575. Despite breaking its season mark for the second time this year, Missouri fell to the Cyclones' 196.625.
The Tigers jumpstarted the meet scoring their highest mark of the season on the vault with a 48.700 team total. The score is Missouri's third highest in program history and was made possible by career-high performances by sophomores Andrea Nervig (9.725) and Lindsay Davis (9.825). Also hitting top marks for Mizzou, freshman Alisha Robinson nailed a 9.825 on the apparatus and Alina Hamm scored a 9.725 in her first meet back after recovering from broken bones in her hand.
On the uneven bars the Tigers continued to stun the crowd recording the teams second-highest season score and the program's third all-time highest score with a 49.150. Davis and Nervig both recorded back-to-back career-highs--Davis posted a 9.850 on her routine and Nervig scored a 9.900 to tie marks set earlier in the season. Once again coming to the aid of Mizzou's sophomore phenoms, Robinson boosted the Tigers throwing a 9.875 routine and Rachael Dombart posted a 9.725 to aid the team. In addition, sophomore Lauren Owca broke into the competitive rotation posting a career-high 9.800.
Continuing their performance, the Tigers tallied a 48.375. Hamm topped the evening setting a new career-high on the apparatus posting a 9.850. Davis kept her season average steady recording a 9.725-her fourth on the year. Also adding to Mizzou's score, freshman Ashley Asraf scored her second-highest career mark on the beam with a 9.775 routine.
Finishing up the meet with style topping the meet recording a 49.350 floor exercise mark to set a new season and program record for the third time in 2002. The feat was accomplished by amazing routines from the entire team, including three career-highs and a school record. Robinson topped the record books once again this season tying her career and program mark with a 9.950. Mizzou's freshman tied for the meet title with ISU senior Sissy Huey. Also helping Mizzou, Nervig scored a 9.875 on the floor for the Tigers posting her second highest season and career mark. Asraf topped the team also scoring a 9.875 to tie her career high and junior Rachel Bridges tied her career-high nailing a 9.825 routine for the third time this year. Also hitting a 9.825, junior Laura Forbes recorded her seventh 9.8+ mark of the season, including a four-meet stint. Davis rounded out her meet recording a 9.800 mark-her second-highest score of the year.
In the all-around, Davis once again set a new career mark scoring a 39.200 and recording Missouri's seventh-highest mark in program history. Also boosting the Tigers, Robinson scored a 38.950.
