Tiger Women's Golf Comes Out Roaring In First Day of Chip-N Putt Invite

Lincoln, Neb. - The University of Missouri women's golf team is in sixth place following Monday's first two rounds of the Chip-N Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The Tigers finished the day with a two-round effort of 618, 11 strokes behind leader Colorado State.

Senior Elin Ohlsson led the way individually for Missouri, as she carded a two-round total of 146 (+2) (74-72) putting her in a tie for second place with CSU's Mayumi Motoyama. Ohlsson was aided in the opening round by a three-hole stretch in which she recorded a chip-in eagle from 140 yards on the 12th hole followed by a par on the 13th and a birdie on the 14th.

Ohlsson is hot on the heels of leader Sara Sasse, who shot an opening-round 69, but then cooled in the second round with a 76 to card a 145.

Mizzou freshman Stephanie Turner also had an auspicious and consistent first day shooting 151 (75-76) and is only six strokes off of the pace. Sophomore Mindy Bullard, who is competing unattached in the tournament and does not figure in Mizzou's total score, was outstanding as well shooting a two-round total of 152, tying her for 11th, only seven shots off of the pace. Freshman Kelli Strubinger is also in striking range of a top-10 finish as she carded a 157, 12 strokes off of the lead and six strokes out of the top-10. Rounding out the Tiger scoring was freshman Denise Knaeble, who shot two rounds of 82 (164).
