Final Stats

Nashville, Tenn. - The University of Missouri women's golf squad registered a strong finish in the Mason Rudolph Championships on Sunday. The Tigers finished their second tourney of the fall in a tie for 11th with South Carolina shooting a 307 on the final day and a 912 for the tournament. The Tigers held strong in the final day after making a three-spot jump after yesterday's second round. Coach Stephanie Cooper said she was extremely pleased with the maturity and focus the Tigers played with throughout the weekend against some of the best competition in the country.

" I thought our kids competed really well and made some big shots throughout the weekend," Cooper said. "We are laying a solid foundation for the rest of the fall and I like where we are at as a team, but we need to continue to work on finishing holes and sinking putts in order to continue to be successful."

Sophomore Denise Knaebel was solid once again on Sunday shooting a three-over par 75 to finish the weekend with a total of 222, good for a 17th place finish. The group at the top of the leaderboard was tight as Knaebel finished only four strokes out of the top 10 and five strokes out of the top five. After firing an opening round 80 on Friday, junior Maria Ohlsson bounced back in a major way during the final two days of the tourney shooting back-to-back 73s to finish in a tie for 28th place.

Sophomores Kelli Strubinger and Stephanie Turner fired rounds of 79 and 80 respectively on Sunday and finished the tourney in 41st and 57th place while freshman Lyndsey Adams finished in 81st. The tournament, which was played at the Legends of Tennessee Golf Club, at par-72, 6302-yard trek in Nashville, Tenn., featured ten of the top 20 teams in America.

The Tigers will now have the week to prepare for the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind., which is the home state of Coach Cooper and Turner. The Tigers will take to the course on Monday and Tuesday and results and recaps of the action will be posted on www.mutigers.com.
