Mizzou Women's Golf in Eighth After Opening Round of Las Vegas Collegiate

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri Women's Golf is in eighth place after the opening round of the Las Vegas Founders Women's Shootout. The Tigers shot an opening-round total of 308 and find themselves nine strokes out of the top three.

Senior Maria Ohlsson was solid in the first round, shooting a 74 which put her in a tie for 7th heading into Tuesday's second round. Ohlsson had a lot of success at this tournament last season as she set the school record with a 54-hole total of 215 while finishing in a second by just one stroke. She is only three strokes off of the lead, which is held by Texas Tech's Megan Hull and San Francisco's Amy Wang with rounds of 71.

Tiger junior Denise Knaebel registered a 76 (T-22nd), just two strokes out of the top 10. Immediately behind Knaebel was senior Mindy Bullard with a 77 (T-28th) while Tiger freshman Madde Augustsson checked in with an 81 (T-59th). Junior Kelli Strubinger rounded out the Tiger scoring, shooting an 83, which put her in a tie for 72nd.
