LAS CRUCES, N.M. - - Mizzou sophomore Ellen Hoeper shot a final round 74, to finish with an even-par 54-hole total of 216 to finish second at the Price's Give `em Five Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M., two shot behind New Mexico State's Lehua Wise.
The Tigers finished in a tie for third in the team standings after a team score of 303 in Wednesday's final round for a three-round total of 897. They finished just one shot behind second-place Baylor and seven behind the host school New Mexico State, who claimed the title. MU and San Jose State tied for third with 897 scores.
Hoeper's second place finish is the best of her career and the highest finish for a Tiger in a tournament since senior Stephanie Wavro took second at last spring's Big 12 Conference Tournament.
Wavro finished in a tie for 17th place in New Mexico with a three-round total of 226 (77-73-76), while freshman Julia Potter finished tied for 23rd (77-75-76=228) and sophomore Chelsea Schriewer tied for 42nd spot (76-75-82=233).
The Tigers will conclude their fall 2006 schedule with the Las Vegas Showdown Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
