Lubbock, Texas - Missouri women's tennis (6-14,1-8 Big 12) fell to Texas Tech's Lady Raiders (9-10, 4-5 Big 12), 5-2, in their final conference road match of the season.

The Tigers gained an early lead, taking the doubles point, and winning two of three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, juniors Mallory Weber and Kaitlyn Ritchie took an 8-5 win over Tech's Kelsy Garland and Natalie Leitch. With the win, Weber and Ritchie improve to 5-4 in conference at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Jamie Mera and senior Sofia Ayala dropped the match at No. 2 doubles, leaving the No. 3 teams on the court to play for the point. Senior Kristen Bleakley and freshman Andrea Lewis prevailed at No.3 doubles, taking a 9-7 win over Caroline Starck and Stefanie Peana.

After earning the doubles point, Missouri took a turn as they entered singles play, winning just one of six matches. Elizabeth Ullathorne defeated freshman Maria Christensen, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, while Garland defeated Mera 7-6 (0), 6-1, at No. 3.

Keeping the Tigers in the match, Weber earned a win over Leitch, 6-3, 6-3. Weber has won four of her last five matches, and is 6-3 overall in conference play.

With the match score at 2-2, the Tigers dropped the next three singles matches to lost the match, 5-2.

Lorena Aviles topped Bleakley, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6. Sandra Davis defeated Ritchie 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, while Lewis fell 6-1, 0-6, 7-6 (5) to Ullathorne in the only three-set match of the afternoon. The Tigers will conclude the 2009-2010 conference season with their last two matches at home against Texas on April 23, and Texas A&M on April 25.
