PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior Dom Bradley picked up two wins to secure third place while senior Todd Schavrien finished in sixth as the Tiger wrestling team wrapped up the 2011 NCAA Championships.
Bradley advanced to the third place match with a 2-0 win against Maryland's Spencer Myers. Bradley escaped within the first four seconds of the second period and rode Myers out in the third to clinch the win. Bradley clinched third place honors when he beat No. 2 seed Jarod Trice of Central Michigan by a 3-2 decision. Bradley took Trice down in the first and escaped in the second while allowing just two escapes from the Chippewa. The Tiger junior is the second heavyweight All-American in program history, joining two-time honoree and National Champion Mark Ellis. Bradley finished the year with a 30-4 record.
Schavrien lost his first match of the day against No. 5 Montell Marion of Iowa, losing 7-3 and dropping him to the fifth place contest. Tied after two periods, Marion picked up a pair of takedowns in the third to secure the match. Schavrien went up against Jimmy Kennedy of Illinois in the fifth place match, with Kennedy coming out ahead 11-1. Schavrien finished 30-9 in his senior season, and wrapped up his career with an 86-44 record while earning his first ever All-America honors along the way.
