Columbia, MO -
University of Missouri freshman Jonathon Ilori brought international glory to the track & field program on Sunday winning the British Junior Outdoor Championship in the triple jump. The United Kingdom native won the competition with a leap of 15.55 meters (51'0.25") on his second attempt. Ilori's second best effort would have been enough to win the championship as well, as second place was over 2 feet behind. The meet was held at Bedford International Stadium in Bedford, United Kingdom.
Also competing for the Tigers over the weekend were freshman MaCauley Garton (Shawnee, KS) and Bryant Blahnik (Red Wing, MN) in the United States Track & Field (USATF) Junior National Championships at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Garton had a great day, placing third in the javelin with a toss of 65.89 meters (216'2.5"). The effort earned him All-American honors from USATF. Blahnik placed twelfth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:18.29
