Mizzou Gymnastics Posts a 194.400 at Black and Gold Exhibition

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou gymnastics team gave fans a sneak peak of the 2015 season with it squad's annual Black and Gold exhibition Saturday night at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers notched a team score of 194.400 during the meet thanks to solid performances on all four events.

Mizzou opened the meet with a strong vault rotation, going 48.950 on the event. Senior Laura Kappler led the way with a team best 9.850 on the event, followed by sophomore Jordyn Doherty with a 9.825 and freshman Kennedi Harris with a 9.800. Also competing on vault for Missouri were freshman Becca Schugel (9.750), freshman Shauna Miller (9.725) and sophomore Alyson Heimsath (9.650).

Missouri's solid start continued to bars, where the Tigers tallied a score of 48.675. Miller and junior Miranda Eubank led the way with scores of 9.775, while senior Becca Johnson went 9.725, seniors Briana Conkle and Katelyn Trevino 9.700 and sophomore Sasha Sander 9.650.

Beam saw the Tigers post an event total of 48.675 for the second rotation in a row. This time, Conkle closed the lineup with a team best 9.825, while Kappler notched a score of 9.775. Also on the event were Miller (9.700), freshman Tia Allbritten (9.700), Schugel (9.675) and Heimsath (9.650).

Harris concluded the meet with a score of 9.850 on floor to earn the highest score on the event. Also on floor, Conkle recorded a 9.775, Kappler a 9.725 and Miller a 9.650.

The Tigers officially open the 2015 campaign at home against Kent State and Towson on Friday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. The season also features six home competitions, including one at Mizzou Arena, and five nationally televised meets.

Season tickets are on sale for $30 for adults and $15 for youth and seniors (55+). A family pack for two adults and two youth costs $70. Fans wishing to purchase season tickets can contact the Missouri athletic ticket office by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or email tickets@missouri.edu.
