Shauna Miller Wins Four Titles in 195.825-195.140 Loss to Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Freshman Shauna Miller claimed the all-around, vault, bars and floor titles as the Mizzou gymnastics team fell to No. 23 Kentucky, 195.825-195.150, Friday night at the Hearnes Center. Freshman Kennedi Harris also tied Miller and a Kentucky gymnast for a share of the floor title, the first event crown of her young Tiger career.

Miller tied career bests on two events and the all-around during the meet after scoring 9.850s on both bars and floor and winning all-around with a 39.325. Harris also tallied a 9.850 on floor to set a personal high for the second consecutive week.

The Tigers dropped to 4-3 overall and 0-3 in Southeastern Conference competition, while the Wildcats improved to 3-3 and 1-3.

For the second week in a row, the Tigers scored a least a 49.000 on vault, as the team hit that mark exactly to open the meet. Freshman Shauna Miller claimed top honors on the event with a 9.900, the second time she has at least that high this season. Senior Laura Kappler and freshman Becca Schugel tied for fn ourth on the event after scores of 9.800, while redshirt senior Katelyn Trevino set a season best with a 9.775.

Moving to bars in the second rotation, Mizzou notched a 48.850 on the event to put their running team total at 97.850. Miller placed first once again, this time with a career high-tying 9.850. Tying for third on the apparatus was senior Becca Johnson after a score of 9.800, while senior Briana Conkle posted a 9.775.

Sophomore Alyson Heimsath and Schugel led the way for Missouri on beam with identical scores of 9.775. Heimsath's tally tied her personal best, which she posted twice a season ago. Overall, the Tigers went 48.400 on beam.

The Tigers closed the night with a solid 48.900 on floor, the second highest score on the event this season. Harris and Miller's 9.850s tied Kentucky's Taylor Puryear for first on the event, while sophomore Angie Kern and Kappler notched scores of 9.775 and 9.750, respectively.

Mizzou returns to action in just two days, when the squad hosts Lindenwood on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m.
