Ann Arbor, Mich. - Mizzou Women's Basketball concluded its season on Thursday night in the third round of the WNIT. Mizzou's third round appearance is the furthest postseason run for a Mizzou team since the 2002-03 season when the Tigers advanced to the quarterfinals of the WNIT. The Tigers conclude the season with 19 wins, the most for a Mizzou team since 2005-06. The Tigers finish the season with a 19-14 record overall, and a 7-9 record in SEC play.
Junior Maddie Stock was on a roll in the first half, putting up a game-high 10 points and giving the Tigers a five-point lead going into the half. She hit a huge three-pointer just as the halftime buzzer sounded, giving Mizzou a 33-28 lead over Michigan. Senior Morgan Eye contributed two triples in the first half as the Tigers allowed just one Michigan triple before the break. The game proved to be a battle as both teams traded the lead throughout the half. The Tigers assisted on 50-percent of their first-half field goals, and seven of nine Tigers contributed at least one field goal in the first half of play.
The two teams came out of the break ready to fight, but Michigan used a 13-2 run to pull ahead by 14. Morgan Stock used a triple to end the Michigan run, but it wasn't enough to keep the Wolverines away. Morgan Stock led the Tigers overall, putting up 13 points. Frericks added another 12 points for the Tigers. Michigan held the Tigers to just eight second-half field goals, but the Tigers kept the Wolverines scoreless from distance after the break.
Michigan will continue to the third round of the WNIT to face Southern Miss.
