COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis junior Kelli Hine was named to the 2014-15 Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Community Service Team, as announced this afternoon by the SEC league office.
It marks Hine's second consecutive SEC Community Service Team honor, as the league continues to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition. All SEC league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003.
Hine is in her second season at Mizzou, and has continually contributed both on-and-off the tennis court. Within the local Columbia, Mo. community, the New Braunfels, Texas native has actively participated in clubs and events to further enhance the area.
The Tiger junior has read to children at Mill Creek Elementary, assisted with Caleb's Pitch - a nonprofit organization aimed to enhance children's lives with serious childhood illnesses, and participated as a Rally Club buddy - a program between Mizzou Athletics and local Columbia, Mo. elementary schools.
Further community services activities for Hine include volunteering at Mizzou Moves - Mizzou Athletics event dedicated to promote healthy lifestyle with students, Read-A-Thon participant, Central Missouri Food Bank volunteer, Susan G. Komen Race participant, City of Columbia Hazardous Waste Pick-Up volunteer, and Good Shepard Lutheran PE assistant.
