Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Jim West Challenge

Mizzou finished ahead of six other schools who came into the tournament ranked higher in the latest Golf Stat team rankings, including top-35 programs Miami, Fla. (#21) and Texas Tech (#34).

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – The University of Missouri Women's Golf team wrapped up play today in the final round of the 2018 Jim West Challenge, and the Tigers finished in a tie for seventh place with a three-round team score of 873 (285-293-295).  Mizzou finished ahead of six other schools who came into the tournament ranked higher in the latest Golf Stat team rankings, including top-35 programs Miami, Fla. (#21) and Texas Tech (#34).  The Tigers stood 67th in the latest set of rankings coming into the tournament.

Individually, junior Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) continued her outstanding fall, as she fired a three-under par 69 Monday (thanks to four birdies and just one bogey) that moved her into a tie for third place.  Her 210 total (70-71-69) left her eight strokes shy of the leader, and was a season best for 54 holes.  Yuen was one of only three players in the tournament to be under par for all three rounds, and she has now been at par or better in 10-of-11 rounds this fall.  It is the second-straight year that Yuen has tied for third at the Jim West Challenge.

Junior Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) tied for 23rd overall in her first career Jim West appearance with a 54-hole total of 218 (70-76-72) – just one off her season best to date.  Otter carded three birdies Monday and finished at even par 72 to mark her fourth career top-25 finish.

Senior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) tied for 38th individually, with a season-best 54-hole total of 223.  Kim finished the tournament just seven shots over par after shooting rounds of 72-74-77.  Fellow seniors Emma Allen (Southampton, England) and Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) tied for 47th and 59th, with three-round scores of 225 (73-74-78) and 228 (77-74-77), respectively.

Mizzou will have a quick turnaround before they leave later this week for their final tournament of the fall, set for Nov. 2-4 in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, where they'll compete in the Battle at the Beach at Club Campestre.
