WOODBURY, MN. – The Mizzou women's golf team opened its 2019-20 season today at the Minnesota Invitational, but day one play was interrupted three times Monday due to storms and was eventually cut short at the par-72 Prestwick Golf Club. The 15-team field was scheduled to play 36 holes Monday, followed by a final round on Tuesday, but only one round could be completed today. The second round will resume tomorrow at 10 a.m., with the final round canceled.
The Tigers stood 14th Monday after a first-round 302 team score that featured four newcomers making their debut in the lineup for Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer.
Junior transfer Noelle Beijer (Assendelft, The Netherlands) led the way individually for Mizzou, shooting a two-under par 70 in her first round as a Tiger. Beijer stands tied for fifth individually after carding four birdies in the opening round. She stood even par through six holes of the second round before play was halted.
Freshman and Red Wing, Minn., native Sophia Yoemans shot a four-over 76 in the morning round, and was one-over par before the suspension of play in the afternoon, and stands tied for 44th place overall at five-over par.
Sophomore Julia Bower (Columbia, Mo.) shot a seven-over par 79 in her first round in the starting lineup, and was one-over in the second round. She will resume play Tuesday in a tie for 66th place at eight-over.
Freshman Bri Bolden (Mokena, Ill.) shot a five-over 77 in her first round as a Tiger, and she stands tied for 74th place individually at 11-over par, with 10 holes left to play on Tuesday.
Senior Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) shot an opening-round 79 Monday and is in 81st place at 14-over par with 13 holes left when play resumes Tuesday..
