Senior Jessica Yuen claims T-11 Finish
Columbia, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf wrapped up its 2020 fall campaign Sunday at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic with its all-around best event this season. The Tigers finished 11th against an all SEC field after posting a season-low 54-hole score of 896 as a group. Mizzou's performance was anchored by its second round on Saturday, shooting an even-par 288 at the Par 72 course. Senior Jessica Yuen highlighted the weekend for the Tigers as she claimed a T-11 finish.
"Tough course, tough conference, but we are really grateful we were able to compete [with the SEC] this fall, giving our teams a great opportunity. We can build on a lot that we learned over three events," said head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer.
Yuen maintained a strong pace from the start as she sandwiched a season-low 70 on Saturday with a pair of 74s in the first and third rounds. Her bogey-free 18 holes helped her tally her 31st career round under-par and her T11 finish marks her best finish since the Battle on the Beach in the fall of 2018, where she placed T-5.
Senior Noelle Beijer's event was highlighted by her second round as well when she fired a one-over 73 supported by five birdies, finishing with seven for the weekend. She ended with a T42 finish after a 10-over par 226.
Sophomore Brianne Bolden fired a one-under 71 to rebound from her first-round 85 and total her fifth career round under-par. She went on to close the event with an even 72 in the final round on Sunday to stand at T51.
Also finishing T51 was Sophia Yoemans, after she carded her weekend-low 2-over 74 on day two. She added six birdies to her career-total, improving her career number to 18.
Freshman Emily Staples rounded out her second career start with a 35-over 251 to place 59th.
The Tigers will return to action after the new year for the spring 2021 season. The schedule is yet to be finalized.
