Track & Field wrapped up its second of five-straight home meets Friday.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kristi Perez-Snyman tied the high jump program record and Alicia Burnett set multiple facility records as the University of Missouri track & field program wrapped the Show-Me Showdown Friday at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.
TOP TIGERS
Perez-Snyman, a senior from Cape Town, South Africa, converted her first attempt four times in a row, including the record-tying height of 1.83m to equal the Mizzou record. The mark was originally set by Hanne Skei Anderson in 1993 and replicated only by Valeria Kostiuk in 2018. Perez-Snyman's effort ranks fourth in the nation in 2025 thus far.
Burnett set facility records each time she touched the track Friday. The graduate student from St. Louis, crossed the line in 7.29 seconds in the 60m dash, replacing a 7.33 mark set by LaQuisha Jackson in 2016. Burnett, a 2024 All-American, rewrote the history books for a second time in the 200m, emerging six-tenths of a second ahead of the competition to finish in 23.58 and set a personal best. The effort surpassed a record that had stood since 1991, when Olympian Ximena Restrepo (Nebraska) managed a 23.93 standing.
Junior sprinter Robert Hines was one of the fastest men in the building on Friday, setting personal bests in the 60m and 200m. In the 60m, Hines' 6.74 victory saw him climb to fourth in program history in a tie with Nylo Clarke, less than two-tenths off of the record. Later in the meet, Hines crossed the 200m finish line in 21.78 to finish third.
RECAP
The Showdown, which played host to all six Division I schools that call the Show-Me State home, saw six Tiger victories as the hosts occupied 22 total podium positions and set 14 new personal records.
Junior thrower Petra Gombas won her second weight throw competition in succession as sophomores Delilah Pippen and Dallas Jenkins continue to set personal bests. Gombas' 18.46m heave was over a meter further than SEMO's silver medalist.
Perez-Snyman spearheaded a podium sweep for the Tigers in the high jump, as senior Claudina Diaz and freshman Marlena Tresnjo each eclipsed 1.78m, a top-15 effort in the country thus far this season.
The Missouri men dominated the mile run as each of the first nine finishers in the 20-man race, unattached or not, all hailed from MU. Junior Ryder James set the pace, crossing the line in 4:06.60 en route to setting a personal best. Classmate Tyler Freiner (4:09.96) and senior Royce Fisher (4:12.48) joined James in setting new career records, as each of the top eight finishers crossed the line within six seconds of each other.
