
Tennis’ Brumfield and Roso Advance in Singles Main Draw of ITA Regional

Mizzou tennis closed out day two of the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Regional Championship, Oct. 17. Two Tigers advanced to the singles main draw round of 32 on day three: graduate student Mary Brumfield and sophomore Korina Roso.
In the doubles main draw, the Tigers saw two pairs advance to the round of 16. Sophomores Zoe Lazar and Roso defeated Dodik and Dookie from Missouri State. At the same time, the veteran pairing of Brumfield and senior Andrea Artimedi took down Kenzhibayeva and McCarty of UMKC, both finishing 8-4. Senior Michelle Kleynerman and sophomore
Julie Bedard dropped a match to Roselli and Xin Tong of Wichita State in the main draw. Additionally, freshman Alex Ackman and sophomore Gian Octa lost to Xu and Kranholdt of Iowa, 8-2, in consolation doubles.
Lazar and Roso battled in the round of 16 but were unable to secure the win against Rizzetto and Raidt of Nebraska, losing 8-6. Brumfield and Artimedi also fought to reach the quarterfinals, falling short to Ounmang and Buchnik of Oklahoma, 8-4.
Moving to the singles main draw, Brumfield bested Natalia Trigosso of Nebraska, 6-3, 7-6 (3). Roso also earned the win to move on from the round of 64, beating Anet Koskel from Arkansas, 6-3, 7-6, (6). Octa fell short against Pavlechova of Arkansas (6-4, 6-2) after qualifying for the main draw. Furthermore, Kleynerman was unable to defeat Nahum of Oklahoma, falling 6-3, 6-4.
