
Tiger Style Wrestling Takes On National Duals Invitational

Mizzou wrestling heads down to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the National Duals Invitational sponsored by Paycom Saturday, Nov. 15-16. The Tigers will take on No. 3 Iowa in the first round, starting at 9 a.m. CT inside the BOK Center. Matches can be streamed live on FloWrestling.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Tigers finished first at the Tiger Style Invite with 146.5 team points, 24 points higher than the second-place team Oklahoma (122.5).
- Four wrestlers claimed the top spot in their weight class for the Black and Gold: Zeke Seltzer (141), Josh Edmond (149), Max Mayfield (165) and Aeoden Sinclair (184).
- Additionally, two more Tigers made the finals but finished in second place: Mack Mauger (125) and Jarrett Stoner (285).
CLIMB THE RANKS
- The Tigers enter the weekend ranked 16th in the country in the NWCA Coaches Poll.
- Individually, Mizzou has all 10 wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes by InterMat, with two in the top 10.
- Redshirt senior Josh Edmond ranks sixth at 149 pounds, while redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair is eighth at 184.
- Redshirt junior Zeke Seltzer is the latest addition to the rankings for the Black and Gold, climbing to No. 19 at 141. Seltzer was previously unranked before taking the top spot at Tiger Style Invite over No. 17 Greyson Clark of Purdue in sudden victory.
IN THE BONUS BAG
- Redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair has earned bonus points in every match he has wrestled in to start the season. (The outlier being against Brian Soldano of Oklahoma, who had to medically forfeit)
- Sinclair has totaled four pins and a technical fall with a 6-0 record.
- Additionally, redshirt senior Josh Edmond is starting the season hot at 149 pounds with a 50 percent bonus rate. Edmond has a major decision, technical fall and pin already this season and is 6-0.
NATIONAL DUALS
- Missouri has seen success at National Duals having won the tournament in 2015.
- Wins over American (34-3), No. 12 Illinois (23-13), No. 11 Lehigh (23-9) and No. 1 Iowa (18-12) led the Tigers to the top of the podium.
- Additionally, Mizzou outscored its opponents 227-137 across the individual matches and had two falls.
ALL-TIME VERSUS IOWA
- The first round matchup between Missouri and Iowa will serve as the seventh meeting between the programs with the Tigers record versus the Hawkeyes at 2-4.
- Mizzou is 2-2 against Iowa in the Brian Smith era, and have won the previous two matches in 2014-15 and 2012-13. Moreover, both wins came at National Duals events.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE HAWKEYES
- The last matchup between the programs was No. 2 Mizzou vs. No. 1 Iowa on Feb. 22, 2015 in Iowa City, Iowa, to win the 2015 National Duals Title. Missouri defeated Iowa, 18-12.
- The Tigers won six of 10 matches in the dual, including four of the first five. Then-sophomore J'den Cox sealed the dual at 197 pounds.

125: No. 1 Alan Waters over No. 5 Thomas Gilman by 5-4 Decision (TB1)
141: No. 5 Lavion Mayes over No. 6 Josh Dziewa by 7-2 Decision
149: No. 1 Drake Houdashelt over No. 2 Brandon Sorensen by 2-1 Decision
157: No. 12 Joey Lavallee over No. 16 Michael Kelly by 6-1 Decision
184: No. 9 Willie Miklus over Alex Meyer by 6-5 Decision
197: No. 1 J'den Cox over No. 6 Nathan Burak by 4-3 Decision

ON THE HORIZON
- The Tigers return home to Hearnes Center for a Braggin' Rights dual against No. 15 Illinois on Monday, Nov. 24. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT and can be streamed on ESPN+.
