Mizzou Volleyball Falls 3-1 at Alabama
Mizzou Volleyball (17-10) lost its match at Alabama (13-12), 3-1, on Sunday, Nov. 16, at Foster Auditorium.
The Tigers fall to 8-7 in conference play, as they are now 7-7 in road games this season.
KEY PLAYERS
- Senior Tyrah Ariail led the Tigers in kills with 15 on a .520 hitting percentage.
- Junior Marina Crownover marked a team-high 42 assists.
- Ariail earned a team-high seven blocks while freshman Maca Lobaglio earned five.
- Senior Maya Sands posted a team-high 15 digs.
FIRST SET (25-17, Alabama leads 1-0)
The set started out back-and-forth, with the teams knotted up at nine-to-nine after the first 18 points.
Alabama found an advantage at 15-12, going into a media timeout. Coming out of the break, they continued to pull away, forcing a Mizzou timeout at 17-13, and soon after at 21-13.
Following their second timeout, the Tigers found some momentum, but it wasn't enough. Alabama took the first set 25-17.
SECOND SET (25-16, Match tied 1-1)
The set began with a 5-3 Alabama advantage, before Missouri took seven of the next eight points. The run led to a Crimson Tide timeout with a 10-6 Mizzou advantage.
The teams went back-and-forth, before the Tigers found three in a row, forcing Alabama's second timeout at 18-12.
The Tide battled back, forcing a Mizzou timeout after rattling off two-straight points. But the Tigers put them away with an ace from senior Caylen Alexander to win the set 25-16.
THIRD SET (25-16, Alabama leads 2-1)
The Tide started the third set hot, taking five-straight points to claim an eight-to-two advantage early. After trading the next eight points, Alabama's kill to take a 13-6 advantage led to Missouri's first timeout.
The lead continued to grow, with Alabama claiming a 20-10 lead and forcing Mizzou's second timeout of the set.
Following the timeout the Tigers battled back, but it wasn't enough. Alabama took the third set 25-16.
FOURTH SET (25-23, Alabama wins 3-1)
Neither side could pull away early in the set, with the score knotted up at eleven before Alabama found some control, taking a 14-11 advantage.
Mizzou battled back quickly, though, taking the next five points and the lead at 16-14.
Alabama was not done either, taking three-straight off the Tigers to tie the set back up at 19.
Both sides exchanged points down the stretch, until Alabama took two-straight, winning the set 25-23 and the match 3-1.
GAME NOTES
- Mizzou drops to 15-6 all-time against Alabama.
- Head coach Dawn Sullivan is 57-32 with the Tigers, and has an overall record of 166-60.

- That concludes the regular season for the Tigers, as they prepare for the SEC Tournament in Savannah, Ga., beginning November 21.
