
Rogers Tops 5000m Program Record as Mizzou Closes Day One at SEC Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Missouri track and field closed day one of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, where Drew Rogers broke the program record in the men's 5000m race on Thursday at Fasken Indoor Track & Field Complex with a time of 13:45.49.
Along with Rogers in the 5000m, Tyler Freiner joined the program's top 10 with fourth in school history, recording a time of 14:13.80.
In the women's distance medley relay, Missouri crossed the finish line in 11:25.90, earning a top 10 in school history with eighth. Tigers competing in the distance medley relay include Rahel Broemmel, Brianna Lee, Anneken Revord, McKenna Revord and Allison Newman.
Freshman Emmanuele Bellanova excelled as he posted personal bests in all four events competing in the men's heptathlon, placing first in the long jump with a jump of 7.33m (24-0.75). Bellanova will continue to compete for the men's heptathlon championship tomorrow with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m race.
Brooke Sawatzky competed in the women's pentathlon, improving her performances with two personal bests in the long jump, 5.54m (18-2.25), and the 800m with a time of 2:34.60.
