
Mizzou Track & Field Claims 17 Event Titles at Cougar Classic

Alicia Burnett posted two first-place finishes that rank among the top five times in school history.
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – University of Missouri track and field dominated at the Cougar Classic on Saturday, with Tigers claiming first place in 17 events at Ralph Korte Stadium.
The day was highlighted by Alicia Burnett, who claimed two top-five times in school history. The senior finished first in the 100m and 200m, where she finished in 11.51 and 23.18 to take fourth and second place in Mizzou history, respectively.
Three Tigers joined Burnett by marking their place in the top-10 program record books, the rest of which came in pole vault. On the women's side, Allison Geen and Anna Vedral tied for ninth in school history with a result of 3.70m (12-01.50), while Charlie Garino's 4.95m (16-02.75) puts him ninth in MU history.
Mizzou saw 13 event titles in addition to Burnett, Garino and Vedral's first-place results: Reagan Kimrey in hammer throw (56.62m, 185-09), Sam Innes in hammer throw (67.87m, 222-08), Skylar Coffey (17.93m, 58-10.00) and Ames Burton (13.68m, 44-10.75) in shot put, Tarique George (55.83m, 183-02) and Burton (50.33m, 165-01) in discus, Callan Saldutto (68.61m, 225-01) and Valentina Barrios (52.71m, 172-11) in javelin, Trevor Peimann in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:08.81), Finn Russell (3:47.16) and Renee Lewis (4:40.67, unattached) in the 1,500m, Brianna Lee in the 800m (2:09.73) and Miriam Chepkurui in the 3,000m (9:39.49).
