COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's basketball has signed transfer guard Shannon Dowell from Illinois State, head coach Kellie Harper announced on Friday.
An All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree a season ago as a sophomore, Dowell averaged 17.1 points per game along with 5.2 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game while leading Illinois State to the Women's National Invitation Tournament Fab Four. She reached double figures in 33 games while scoring 20 or more on 14 occasions.
Appearing in 37 games with 36 starts, Dowell also poured in two 30-point efforts including a career-best 37-point outing against Troy.
A 2024 All-MVC Freshman Team selection, she started 20 games during her freshman campaign and appeared in all 34 games for the Redbirds. Making an immediate impact, Dowell reached double-figures in 17 games and became the only true freshman in the MVC to score 20 or more points in three consecutive games.
The O'Fallon, Ill. native was a first-team all-state selection by the Associated Press and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association while leading O'Fallon High School to its first state title in program history as a senior in 2023-24.
Dowell joins Saniah Tyler and Jordana Reisma in the Tigers' offseason transfer class.
