The Tigers prepare to host the final competition of the four-meet homestand.
Mizzou track and field hosts its final home meet of the season with the Missouri Invitational on Friday at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse, beginning at 9 a.m.
INSIDE THE FIELDHOUSE
Missouri hosts Saint Louis, Eastern Illinois, SIUE, Southeast Missouri, Murray State, Lindenwood, UMKC, Western Illinois, Ozarks (Ark.) and Colo. School of Mines.
Before the start of last year's indoor season, the facility's 200-meter track was refurbished with an eight-lane sprint straightaway, along with runways for pole vault and horizontal jumps. Since its opening in 1972, the venue has hosted multiple indoor track and field competitions, including the 1991 Big Eight Indoor Track & Field Championship.
TIGERS ON THE TRACK
Thirty-one Tigers are slated to compete at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse for Friday's meet. Two event squads enter the Missouri Invitational after being ranked on the national leaderboard. The men's weight throw squad stands at No. 6, with Sam Innes, Garik Pozecki and Clayton Kamp looking to follow up. Innes led the group with a throw of 22.76m at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational, ranking seventh nationally. The women's 3000m team led the Tigers to notch the 20th spot for the event.
Kamp will join Sam Albert and Chase Crawford in the shot put. On the women's side, Tañia Duncan, Kaitlyn Morningstar, Delilah Pippen, Ames Burton, Petra Gombas and Reagan Kimrey will represent the Black and Gold. Kimrey's throw of 20.09m at the Show-Me Showdown marks 31st on the USTFCCCA leaderboard.
Mizzou's multi-event women showed out at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational. Wichita State transfer Brianna Utecht claimed the pentathlon title with 4,017 points, the second-highest result in school history. Freshman Sofia Wydra followed in third with a total of 3,693 points. Utecht will compete in the 60m hurdles and shot put at the Missouri Invitational. Wydra is listed for the 60m hurdles and long jump.
Houston transfer Dillon Leacock takes on the 400m and 60m hurdles in the competition after establishing personal bests of 48.24 and 8.09, respectively, at last week's event. Senior Robert Hines will face the 60m.
After clearing 1.80m at the Show-Me Showdown to stand as the No. 31 mark nationally, Marlena Tresnjo readies to compete in the high jump. A pole vault squad consisting of Anna Vedral, Allison Geen, Anna Ferguson and Makenna Estes will return to Hearnes for the last time this season.
Mizzou's distance team came out strong for their indoor season debut at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational, creating five all-time program records. For Friday's event, Lily Ginsberg, Maleah Eggers, Elissa Barnard and Brianna Lee will represent the Black and Gold in the 800m. On the men's side, Andrew Simard, Joseph Bariola, Joshua Allison, Yordanos Zelinski and Andrew Hauser will run the mile. River Hardman and Raymond Kipkoech will join Bariola, Allison and Hauser in the 3000m.
