CLEVELAND, Ohio - No. 14 Mizzou wrestling concludes the 2025-26 season in 14th place at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, March 21. Mizzou tallied 34 points across the three-day event, in addition to placing two out of six qualifiers on the All-American podium.
The third and final day saw four contested matches for the Black and Gold. In those bouts, two competitors combined to go 3-1, including two bonus point wins, both major decisions. Across the entirety of the three-day tournament, Missouri wrestlers went 14-11 with five bonus point wins.
The NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award honors the best-of-the-best student athletes in each sport by recognizing the competitor with the highest cumulative GPA. This year's winner was Missouri 285-pounder Jarrett Stoner. He currently holds a 4.0 GPA while majoring in health sciences.
SESSION V
Two Missouri wrestlers saw action on Saturday morning in the consolation semifinals. At 174 pounds, redshirt junior Cam Steed was unable to overcome Ohio State's Carson Kharchla, the No. 4 seed, to put himself into the fifth-place match. Not long after, Aeoden Sinclair came up at 184 pounds, where he secured multiple takedowns en route to a major decision to punch his ticket to the third-place bout.
In the medal round, Steed got things rolling with a booming feet-to-back takedown in the first period of his fifth-place match. The points gave him a lead he would not relinquish, picking up a win and a top-five finish at his second national tournament.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
- Missouri concluded the national tournament in 14th place as a team for the second consecutive season. Last year in Philadelphia, the Tigers also finished 14th with two All-Americans.
- In a matter of points, this season's team scored 34, improving by two points upon last season's mark (32) despite similar performances.
- With his third-place finish in his first national tournament, Sinclair became the Tigers' first freshman All-American since 2021, when there were two. Both Keegan O'Toole (third-place - 165) and Rocky Elam (fifth-place - 197)
- Sinclair's consolation semifinal against Brock Mantanona of Michigan was the second meeting of the pair this season. They previously crossed paths at the National Duals Invitational in November, a bout which was won by technical fall, 21-4 (7:00), in favor of the Black and Gold.
- The 174-pound fifth-place match saw a rematch of the quarterfinals between Steed and Navy's Danny Wask, both now two-time All-Americans. The Tiger held Wask to two points in both matches, winning 9-2 on the frontside and 5-2 on the backside.
- Sinclair spent his morning lighting up the scoreboard, picking up two major decisions. He tripled his total count of majors this season, having entered the tournament with only one to his name.
- Steed, a Collinsville, Oklahoma native, finished his redshirt junior campaign with a record of 18-6, featuring 11 bonus point wins. He had five pins and six technical falls.
- Sinclair, an Edgerton, Wisconsin native, wrapped up his first season starting for Mizzou with a 30-2 official record. He tallied 24 wins with bonus points, including seven pins, 14 technical falls, and three major decisions.
- Mizzou wrestling has been represented at every Saturday morning medal round of the NCAA Championships since 2013. During that 13-year streak of national tournaments, Missouri had multiple All-Americans every single season.
- Stoner, a native of Rockwall, Texas, became Mizzou wrestling's first winner of the NCAA Elite 90. His win also makes it three consecutive seasons with a Missouri wrestler collecting a postseason award after O'Toole and Steed won the Gorriaran Award each of the past two tournaments (2024 and 2025).
UP NEXT
Many Missouri wrestlers will compete for the Tiger Style Wrestling Club on the freestyle circuit in the coming months. The first event in the world team qualification process is the U.S. Open, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 21, 2026, one month from now.
