Tyler Stuart joined the University of Missouri Athletic Performance staff in the summer of 2021 as an assistant athletic performance Coach.
He oversees the physical development of the women’s basketball and tennis programs, preparing them for optimum performance while decreasing the likelihood of injury.
Stuart came to Mizzou following one season at the University of Cincinnati, where he worked with men's basketball and tennis.
Stuart also served three seasons (2017-20) as the director of strength and conditioning for the University of New Mexico’s men’s basketball program. While in Albuquerque, Stuart provided holistic athletic development, including, strength and conditioning, nutrition and wellness.
Prior to his time in Albuquerque, he spent five years (2012-17) at the University of Florida.
During his time with the Gators, Stuart designed and implemented year-round strength, speed and conditioning training plans for the Gator women’s basketball, women’s tennis and women’s golf teams and select groups of the Men’s basketball program; guides each student-athlete through an individual training program designed to enhance strength as well as explosive power, speed, agility, endurance, coordination, balance and flexibility. Stuart also served on several committees and helped develop policies relating to Student-athlete health and body composition.
Prior to working at UF, Stuart was the Director of Basketball Strength and Conditioning at Appalachian State for the 2011-12 season. Stuart oversaw the Owens Facility Weight Room and the Olympic sports that utilized the facility. Stuart also served on a leadership small group as directed by the Athletic Director.
Stuart started his coaching career at Clemson University when he was the head women’s basketball strength and conditioning coach from August 2007 until July 2011. He also served as the interim head basketball strength and conditioning coach for a two-month period in 2009. Stuart worked as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Clemson from January 2007 until he began working with the women’s basketball program, spending time with the football, baseball, soccer and rowing teams for the Tigers.
The Anderson, South Carolina native earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology-exercise science from Anderson University in 2007 and a master’s work in human nutrition from Clemson in 2011. Currently, Stuart is completing a degree in sports administration from the University of New Mexico.
Stuart holds the following professional certifications: CSCS, TSAC-F, Biosignature, Kinetic Chain Enhancement, FMS 1, y-balance, and CPR/AED.
He is married to Elizabeth Stuart, a registered dietitian with Mizzou Football, and the couple has two sons; Jack and Graham.
