The running back from St. Louis set Missouri’s single-season rushing mark at 1,312 yards in 1969 (stood for 19 years) and was MU’s career rushing leader for 10 years. As a senior in 1970, he was one of the nation’s leading rushers with 610 yards through five games when he was felled by a shoulder injury. He set the Mizzou standard with eleven 100-yard performances in his career, which was tied by Devin West in 1998 and passed by Brad Smith in 2005. He was a first-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears in 1971. He went on to coach on the high school level in St. Louis, and coached Berkeley High School’s girls track team to a Missouri state championship in 1993.
