
Tiger Track Has Excellent 2nd Day at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Missouri men and women's track teams had an excellent Say 2 at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida today. Five Tigers set personal bests in their events today, eight Missouri track and field athletes finished in the Top 5 in their events, and freshman Hans Uldal set a school record in the decathlon.
On the men's side, a substantial rain delay postponed the conclusion of the men's decathlon. After the delay Tiger freshman Hans Uldal quickly took the lead and won the decathlon with a school-record point total of 7587. Senior co-captain Knut Sommerfeldt, who is the two-time defending Big 12 champion in the decathlon, finished second with 7506 points. In other track events freshman Chase Hall finished fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:47.09 and sophomore Josh Davis finished ninth. Matt Noonan was the only Tiger that competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase; he finished 11th with a time of 14:47.09.
The day started off well for the Missouri track team when Big 12 pentathlon champion finished second in the heptathlon; she finished just five points behind first-place finisher Antoinette Wilk of South Carolina. Asigbee set a personal best in the heptathlon by 241 points with a point total of 5332. Former Tiger, and current graduate assistant with the track and field team, Michelle Moran finished third with a score of 5101. Senior Abbe Ohneck finished fourth with a score of 5037, shattering her personal best by over 300 points.
Also, on the women's side, senior Amy Semith finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal best time of 11:05.67, besting her previous best by over six seconds. Sophomore Lesley Smith finished third in the steeplechase with a time of 11:12.73. Junior Katherine Bonugli and senior Kimberly Moore set two more personal bests in the 5000 meters. Bonugli finished third in a time of 17:07.54 which improved on her best time by nearly 22 seconds, Moore finished fourth in a personal best time of 17:09.79.
The bulk of the events at the relays will be contested tomorrow and the relays come to a conclusion on Saturday with the relay events.
