
Track and Field Preps for Battle on the Bayou

The Tigers travel to Baton Rouge for the third meet of the outdoor campaign.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou track and field continues the 2026 outdoor season with a trip to Baton Rouge, La. to compete in Battle on the Bayou on Friday and Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
Missouri's group of 15 men and 17 women are slated to join Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, LSU, Minnesota, Mississippi State, North Dakota State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, SELA and William Carey at the meet.
TIGERS ON THE TRACK
For the men, Sam Albert and Chase Crawford ready for shot put, after Albert achieved a personal best with a 16.62m (54-6 ½) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
Sam Innes, Clayton Kamp and Garik Pozecki will compete in the hammer throw contest, with Innes making his outdoor debut after earning First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championship for weight throw.
Senior Robert Hines makes his return to the 200m after placing seventh with a 21.67 at the season opener and will also run the 100m for the first time this season. Dillon Leacock looks to follow up in the 400m hurdles after marking the No. 6 all-time result in program history with a 51.39 at the same meet.
The men's distance looks to continue its dominant performance following its results at the Raleigh Relays. Lasse Funck and Finn Russell added their names to the program's top ten all-time list from their 1500m results, with Funck notching the No. 5 spot with a 3:41.98, while Russell came in at No. 7 after recording a 3:42.60. Ethan Hogan bested his previous 1500m record with a 3:48.34. The three will make another go-around in the race, along with Joseph Bariola, River Hardman, Andrew Hauser, Ryder James and Carter Spradling.
Funck, Russell, Hardman and James are also slated to run the 800m. Bariola will represent Missouri in the 5000m, while Hauser will race in the 3000m steeplechase for the first time.
On the women's side, a group of seven will take on the javelin contest, led by Skylar Ciccolini, last week's Southeastern Conference Co-Field Athlete of the Week. She will be joined by Valentina Barrios, Morgan Cannon, Lexi Craig, Marysa Flieg, Val Galligan, Nora Hark and Adrienne Russell. Ames Burton is slated to compete in discus throw after placing fourth with a 47.91m (157-2) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Petra Gombas, Reagan Kimrey and Kaitlyn Morningstar prepare to take on the hammer throw after going three-four-five in the season opener. Marlena Tresnjo seeks to claim her second victory of the outdoor season for high jump.
Suzy Lecoutre, Morgan Yeomans, Brianna Lee and Allison Newman race in the 800m. After securing personal bests at the Raleigh Relays, Yeomans and Newman look to follow up in the 1500m, joined by Lecoutre.
Brianna Utecht will travel to Austin, Texas to compete in the women's heptathlon in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Wednesday through Thursday. The junior will face off against a field of 20.
RANKED TIGERS
Missouri has seven men and three women ranked in the top 50 of the individual event rankings after two weeks of outdoor competition.
Elijah Limo leads the men at the No. 8 spot for 3000m steeplechase with a result of 8:40.60 at the Raleigh Relays. In the same race, Joshua Allison crossed the finish line at 8:49.31 to rank 17th.
Funck and Russell enter the leaderboard at No. 16 and 19, respectively, for their results in the 1500m, while Tyler Freiner and Drew Rogers rank 18th and 34th in the 10,000m after their performances at the Raleigh Relays.
Leacock stands at No. 27 for 400m hurdles after clocking a 51.39 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
Ciccolini represents the women for javelin, ranking No. 2 for her winning throw and personal best of 57.45m (188-6) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Barrios follows in sixth after tallying a mark of 55.06m (180-8). Tresnjo ranks 47th for high jump after clearing 1.72m (5-7.75) in the season opener.
