Columbia, Mo.- The Tigers suffered another close loss today in Columbia against Iowa. Mizzou moves to 7-5 on the season. A three-set loss proved to be the deciding factor in today's loss.
Mizzou clinched the doubles point with solid wins at the #1 and #2 positions. Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova started the dual with a doubles win followed by Mary Barry and Erika Josbena.
Juric stepped back into the singles lineup despite a knee injury that kept her out yesterday. She fought hard, but couldn't take down Iowa's Meg Racette. Sevcikova also couldn't come up with a win against Iowa's Hillary Mintz. Both Hana Kraftova and Yelena Olshanskaya had big singles wins in the #3 and #5 spots, but it wasn't enough for the Tigers. It all came down to Erika Josbena's long three-set loss to Iowa's Hilary Tyler at #6. Josbena fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The Tigers hope to rebound against Texas Tech Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and #35 Baylor Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Green Tennis Center in Columbia.
