
Mizzou Drops Big 12 Opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Texas Tech in the Big 12 Conference opener Friday night in Lubbock, Texas. The loss dropped Mizzou's record to 8-3 overall and 0-1 in league action, while the Red Raiders improved to 6-3-1 and 1-0.
Texas Tech got on the board early with a goal in the third minute from Jessica Fuston.
Mizzou had chances throughout the game, especially in the second half, as sophomore Alyssa Diggs, junior Taiwo Adeshigbin and freshman Abi Raymer all had shots saved by Texas Tech's goalkeeper.
Sophomore Dominique Richardson narrowly missed a game-tying goal in the 86th minute when her attempt sailed just over the cross bar.
Freshman goalie McKenzie Sauerwein made three saves in goal for Missouri.
The Tigers continue their Big 12 opening road trip as the team travels to Stillwater, Okla., take on the No. 2 Oklahoma State Cowgirls Sunday at 1 p.m.
