Mizzou S&D Welcomes Drury for Friday Meet

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving continue action on Friday, Jan. 23 when the team hosts Drury at 3 p.m. at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
Both Drury squads are the defending Division II national championships. In fact, the men have won the last 10 Division II crowns and the women have won five of the list six titles. Both teams are currently ranked No. 1 in the CSCAA Division II national rankings.
The Tigers are coming off a split at Southeastern Conference foe South Carolina on Jan. 17. The men earned a 181-119 win over the Gamecocks, while the women suffered a narrow 153.5-146-.5 loss in Columbia, S.C. Overall, the Tiger men own a 5-1 dual mark, while the women are 8-2.
For their performances against South Carolina, senior Sam Tierney and junior Clark Thomas earned SEC Male Swimmer and Male Diver of the Week honors, respectively.
Tierney won two individual events and was on two victorious Tiger relays against the Gamecocks. He easily swept the breaststroke events with times of 53.95 in the 100 and 1:57.99 in the 200, while winning the 100 breast by almost a second and a half and the 200 breast by a little over two seconds. He was also part of Mizzou's winning 200 medley relay (1:30.78) and 400 free relay (3:01.18) teams.
Thomas swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards at South Carolina. He opened the meet with a tally of 355.08 points on 1-meter to claim top honors, then scored 382.05 points on 3-meter to earn the victory. He won both boards by over 20 points, including almost a 40 point cushion on 3-meter.
Following the meet with Drury, closes dual action on Thursday, Jan. 29 in an SEC matchup against Auburn at Noon CT. The meet will serve as the Tigers' Senior Day, as all 15 seniors will be honored before competition begins.
