@MizzouTennis Earns First SEC Win of the Season over Alabama

Raley clinches the match at the No. 6 position, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, over Greene
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 61 Mizzou Tennis [13-5, 1-4 SEC] won its first Southeastern conference match of the season over No. 43 Alabama [4-9, 0-5 SEC], 4-3 in a fiercely competitive match on Sunday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. Sophomore Clare Raley (Atlanta, Ga.) clinched the match in the final match to finish on the day, 7-6, 6-3, over Aryn Greene at the No. 6 position.
Junior Cassidy Spearman (Laguna Nigel, Calif.) and junior Brittany Lashway (Bradenton, Fla.) earned the first doubles victory of the match at the No. 3 position, winning 6-2 over Alabama's Danielle Spielmann and Joanna Nene Savva. Junior Bea Machado Santos [Lisbon, Portugal] and sophomore Brianna Lashway [Bradenton, Fla.] clinched the doubles point at the No. 1 position, defeating the No. 32-ranked doubles pair in the country, Erin Routliffe and Andie Daniell, 6-4.
Senior Kelli Hine (New Braunfels, Texas) earned the first singles point of the day for Mizzou out of the No. 2 position, defeating No. 31-ranked Andie Daniell. Hine won the first set 6-2 before a competitive second set where Hine saw her work her way back from a 1-5 deficit to force a tiebreaker. After losing the tiebreaker, she managed to win the third set, 6-3, to take the set and the match.
Spearman won her match in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, over Spielmann at the No. 5 position. With the score tied 3-3, all eyes fell on the deciding match of the day between sophomore Raley and Greene. The Tiger sophomore won the hotly contested opening set, 7-6 (7-5), then took the next set, 6-3, to clinch the victory for Mizzou.
Next on the schedule for Mizzou will be a showdown in College Station, Texas, to face off with Texas A&M. The Tigers and Aggies will play on Friday, March 25th at 5 p.m. CT.
