COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Cross Country will begin postseason competition on Friday as the Tigers race at the Southeastern Conference Championships. The men will kick off the day in an 8k race at 9 a.m. CT at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga., followed by the women's 6k race at 10 a.m. CT.
A one-hour highlight show of the Championships will air Sunday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. CT on the SEC Network. Live scoring will be available on SECSports.com and GeorgiaDogs.com.
Senior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa) returns after capturing the women's individual title a season ago and leading the women to a third-place finish, the highest team conference finish since 2004. Senior Jamie Kempfer (Festus, Mo.) will also look to repeat her performance from last year where she finished fifth and earned All-SEC First Team honors. Redshirt senior Megan Cunningham (Eureka, Mo.) and redshirt sophomore Samantha Farmer (Columbia, Mo.) will both be in competition as well and are coming off 6k personal record performances at the Pre-National Invitational (Oct. 14).
On the men's side, Mizzou will be led by redshirt sophomore Thomas George (Gloucester, England) and redshirt senior Marc Dubrick (DeKalb, Ill.), who have paced the Tigers in each race this season. George and Dubrick finished first and second, respectively for Mizzou at the Pre-National Invitational (Oct. 14), as George crossed the finish line with an 8k personal record time of 24:12.4, while Dubrick finished at 24:53.8. Also running on Friday will be redshirt sophomore Michael Widmann (Naperville, Ill.), who earned SEC All-Freshman team honors last year.
After the SEC meet, Mizzou travel north to Ames, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 10, and then east to Louisville, Ky., for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 18.
