COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Cross Country will continue postseason competition on Friday, Nov. 9, as the Tigers will compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The women will begin the day with a 6k race at 11 a.m. CT at the Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill., followed by the men's 10k race at 12 p.m. CT.
The top-two finishing teams at the meet will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be held on Nov. 17, in Madison, Wis. Afterwards, 13 at-large team berths and 38 individual at-large bids will be handed out for the NCAA Cross Country Championships
The Mizzou women enter the race ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Rankings, while the men rank 11th.
Mizzou will look to build off last season's performances at the NCAA Midwest Regional, as the women's team finished fourth overall while the men placed ninth.
For the women, the Tigers are coming off a fifth-place showing at the SEC Championships (Oct. 26). Freshman Tori Findley (Blue Springs, Mo.) paced the team with a 13th overall finish at the SEC Championships, which earned her All-SEC Second Team and All-SEC Freshman Team honors. Freshmen Reilly Revord (Hinsdale, Il.) and Mikayla Reed (Washington, Mo.) will also be expected to contribute, as they both earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors at the SEC Championships.
On the men's side, Mizzou will try to improve upon a fifth place team finish at the SEC Championships led by junior Kieran Wood (Cambridge, U.K.) and redshirt junior Thomas George (Gloucester, England). Wood finished 10th overall while George placed 12th, which earned them both All-SEC Second Team honors.
If Mizzou were to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, they would take place on Nov. 17 in Madison, Wis.
