@MizzouSwimDive Opens Long Course Season at UMIZZ Invite

COLUMBIA – The men's and women's swimming teams opened their long course seasons at the two-day UMIZZ Invite, April 27-28, at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The Tigers nearly swept all events and set a number of long course personal bests at the meet.
KEY PERFORMANCES
A total of 15 Missouri swimmers claimed a total of 23 event wins over the two days, including seven Tigers who earned multiple wins.
- Sophomore Nick Alexander (St. Louis, Mo.) took home a team-high three individual wins, as he touched first in the 200m back (2:01.87), 200 IM (2:05.90) and 400 IM (4:30.57).
- Junior Jordan O'Brien (Naperville, Ill.) posted a pair of personal best times to sweep the 100 and 200 breast. He notched times of 1:02.82 and 2:19.25 to better his old marks set 2017 U.S. Open Championships.
- Freshman Lauren Savoy (Highland Village, Texas) also nabbed a pair of wins. She won the 200 breast in a personal best 2:35.67, and added a win in the 400 IM in 4:57.29.
- In the butterfly events, sophomore Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) touched first in the 100 (54.29) and 200 (2:05.80)
- Junior Courtney Evensen (Golden Valley, Minn.) finished first in the women's 400 and 800 free events. She clocked a 4:17.50 in the 400 free and touched in 9:00.59 in the 800 free.
- Junior Annie Ochitwa claimed a pair of wins with first-place finishes in the 100 free (56.00) and 100 fly (1:00.03).
- Additionally, freshman Grant Reed (Austin, Texas) posted wins in the 200 free (1:53.56) and 400 free (4:03.05)
