AUSTIN, Texas - Mizzou diver Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colo.) punched his ticket to the 2019 NCAA Championships on Monday during day one action at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Austin, Texas. Goodwin, now a four-time NCAA qualifier, finished seventh on 1-meter to earn his Championships berth.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Goodwin claimed his fourth NCAA bid in as many years with his performance on Monday. The senior finished seventh overall on 1-meter with a two-round total of 689.3 points, as he scored 348.65 in the final and 340.65 in preliminary action. The top nine finishers on the event earned NCAA berths. He can add 3-meter to his NCAA schedule on Tuesday if he places among the top 12 finishers on the board.
An All-American on platform in 2016, Goodwin narrowly missed All-America honors last year with a 19th-place finish on 3-meter. Most recently he took third on 1-meter at the 2019 Southeastern Conference Championships.
Freshman Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) also advanced to the men's 1-meter final, where he finished 16th overall with a combined score of 559.95 points (273.7 in finals, 286.25 in prelims).
Four Tiger women competed in the women's 3-meter competition, led by a 31st-place finish from freshman Sarah Rousseau (Melbourne, Fla.) with 270.1 points.
