Khamis Takes Second on Platform at Bruin Diving Invitational

LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) earned runner-up honors on platform to highlight the day two action for the Mizzou diving teams at the Bruin Diving Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif.
TOP TIGERS
Khamis tallied a two-round score of 672.92 on platform to place second overall on the event, well ahead of the third-place finisher. He went for 344.15 points in prelims and followed that up with 328.8 points in the final session to claim runner-up honors.
Earning his second fourth-place finish in as many days was freshman Leonardo Garcia Varela (Cali, Colombia). He totaled 651.55 points on platform thanks to rounds of 348.85 (finals) and 302.7 (prelims). Garcia Varela placed fourth on 3-meter during day one action at the Bruin Diving Invitational yesterday.
Also making finals appearances were freshmen Carlo Lopez (Edmonton, Alberta), Maddie Huitt (Gibsonia, Pa.) and Savana Trueb (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Lopez finished 11th on platform (549.8), while Huitt (560.85) and Trueb (519.0) placed 10th and 15th, respectively, in the women's 3-meter competition.
