Mizzou Diving Adds Three Top Five Finishes During Last Day at Bruin Diving Invitational

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The men's and women's diving teams tallied three more top five placements during the final day of competition at the Bruin Diving Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif. The men's program also took home the men's team title with 100 points, a full 21 points ahead second-place finisher Southern Cal.
TOP TIGERS
Freshman Leonardo Garcia Varela (Cali, Colombia), sophomore Sarah Rousseau (Melbroune, Fla.) and freshman Maddie Huitt (Gibsonia, Pa.) all finished in the top five in their respective events on Sunday.
Garcia Varela claimed his third top five finish in as many days with a third-place showing on men's 1-meter. The freshman scored a two-round total of 614.1 points, with 318.8 points in finals and 300.3 points in the preliminary session. Garcia Varela also placed fourth on both 3-meter and platform at the three-day meet.
Also on men's 1-meter, sophomore Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) took sixth with 575.35 points overall on the day.
In women's platform, Huitt claimed fourth-place honors, as she scored 260.65 points in the finals after 240.85 points in prelims, for a two-round total of 501.5 points. Rousseau finished right behind Huitt in fifth with 476.7 points overall, after 258.3 points in finals and 218.4 points in prelims.
