
No. 24 Tiger Style Closes MAC Competition at SIU-Edwardsville Wednesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling travels up to Edwardsville, Ill., to wrestle its final MAC dual in the 2019-20 season against SIU-Edwardsville. Wednesday's dual will be held in First Community Arena at Vadalabene Center at 6 p.m. and will be live on ESPN+.
"We're fired up to be wrestling in the St. Louis area Wednesday," head coach Brian Smith said. "We have such a great group of fans in that city, and it's a great wrestling community as we've helped host NCAAs in St. Louis on several occasions. We're excited to get into the area and represent our state's Flagship Institution."
The Tigers are looking to end their conference season undefeated (8-0) with another complete sweep of both the MAC West Division and MAC Regular Season Titles this year with a win over the Cougars Wednesday. The Tigers haven't lost to a MAC team since February 12, 2017, when the Northern Iowa Panthers took down the Tigers, 25-10. Since NIU beat Mizzou, the Tigers have gone 21-0 in the MAC. The SIU-E Cougars are standing at 0-8 in the conference and 2-11 overall with wins over West Liberty (17-15) and Little Rock (26-12). The Tigers and the Cougars have wrestled each other in each of the last six years and the Tigers have beaten the Cougars every year.
There were plenty of positives for the Tigers following their dual last Sunday against Arizona State as several Tiger wrestlers earned some big wins. Allan Hart grabbed bonus points with a 14-4 major decision over Josh Kramer. Alex Butler posted a win over Cory Crooks, 4-2. Brock Mauller now has a team-high 22 wins under his belt after beating Josh Macura 8-4. Lastly, Wyatt Koelling crawled up in the rankings by beating 11th ranked Kordell Norfleet 3-1. He's now ranked No. 20 nationally at 197 pounds and is 18-5 on the season.

After Wednesday's dual, the Tigers will have only one dual left on the schedule before heading to the MAC Championships. That dual is against Iowa State is on February 22 (Saturday) at 1:30 and will be at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo. That day, Coach Smith and the program will celebrate Senior Night, honoring 10 seniors. It will also be a Gold Rush as free gold Tiger Style T-Shirts will be handed out. At intermission, there will be an exhibition dual between a pair of Olympic hopefuls as Mizzou volunteer assistant coach Dom Bradley will wrestle Youssif Hemida at halftime.
