COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 9 Mizzou Wrestling (5-0) returns to action Sunday (Jan. 17) for arguably the country's top NCAA wrestling event of the 2021 regular season, as it will compete in the Iowa State Quadrangular. The Tigers will be joined by host No. 10 Iowa State, No. 11 Arizona State and No. 20 Northern Iowa inside Hilton Coliseum.
Mizzou and Northern Iowa will kick off the jam-packed day at 2 p.m. CT. The Tigers will then square off against the Cyclones at 4 p.m. CT, followed by a matchup versus the Sun Devils at 6 p.m. CT.

Series Snapshot vs. Northern Iowa
- Mizzou trails in the all-time series, 19-13.
- The Tigers and Panthers met a season ago (Jan. 12, 2020) in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with Northern Iowa claiming a 20-13 victory. A year before (Jan. 17, 2019), Mizzou walked away victorious with a 29-12 win inside the Hearnes Center.
- While trailing in the all-time series, the Tigers have won seven of their past 10 matchups against Northern Iowa. The two programs have met in each of the past eight seasons with Mizzou holding a 4-3 advantage.
Series Snapshot vs. Iowa State
- Mizzou trails in the all-time series, 44-10.
- The Tigers and Cyclones met last season (Feb. 22, 2020) in Mid-Missouri with Mizzou earning a 27-6 victory. In the Tigers' last visit to Ames (Feb. 24, 2019) they earned a 23-15 win.
- Before meeting each of the last two seasons, Mizzou and Iowa State hadn't squared off since 2011-12. While the Tigers trail substantially in the all-time series, the Tigers are currently riding a five-dual winning streak over the Cyclones.

- Mizzou trails in the all-time series, 4-1-1.
- The Tigers and Sun Devils last met a season ago (Feb. 9, 2020) with Arizona State tallying a 21-13 triumph inside the Hearnes Center. Mizzou's last win in the all-time series occurred two seasons ago (Feb. 8, 2019), as it produced a 30-12 triumph in Tempe, Arizona.
- Before meeting each of the last two seasons, Mizzou and Arizona State hadn't met in a dual since 2005-06.
Quick Hits on the Tigers
- Following another dominant effort on the mat last Friday (Jan. 8) in its 2021 home opener, Mizzou climbed yet again in the latest NWCA Division I Coaches Poll to No. 9 in the country. Through five duals this season, the Tigers have outscored their opponents to the incredible tune of 173-21 (30-point average margin of victory).
- With Mizzou's 29-3 triumph over Wyoming, head coach Brian Smith earned his 300th career victory as the head of the Tigers. He becomes only the ninth head coach in Mizzou Athletics history to garner 300-plus victories in black and gold, joining Gene McArtor (Baseball), Tim Jamieson (Baseball), Norm Stewart (Men's Basketball), Jay Miller (Softball), Ehren Earleywine (Softball), John "Hi" Simmons (Baseball), Joann Rutherford (Women's Basketball) and Wayne Kreklow (Volleyball).
- Heading into arguably their toughest date of the shortened 2021 schedule, the Tigers will feature one of the nation's deepest lineups. According to the latest individual national rankings by Intermat and The Open Mat, all 10 of the projected Mizzou starters earned a spot on the respective lists.
- The freshmen duo of 165-pound Keegan O'Toole and 197-pound Rocky Elam made their season debuts in the national rankings, sitting as high as No. 13 and No. 15 in the country, respectively.
- Seven of the Tigers' projected starting lineup enter Sunday's action with a perfect 2021 record. 149-pound junior Brock Mauller and 184-pound redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent lead the way respectively with five individual victories apiece.
- Mizzou, Iowa State, Arizona State and Northern Iowa all enter Sunday's quadrangular in Ames, Iowa, ranked top 20 in the nation. At 125 pounds, all four programs will feature top 20 nationally ranked wrestlers per FloWrestling. At 141, 157, 174 and 197 pounds; Mizzou, Iowa State and Arizona State all possess nationally ranked foes.
