Mizzou’s Wright earns a win in singles play
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 36 Mizzou Tennis (13-7, 1-4 SEC) fell to No. 9 Vanderbilt (11-2, 3-2 SEC), 4-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. It marked the first time since joining the SEC that Mizzou scored two points against the Commodores.
DOUBLES
Mizzou took the doubles point after wins on court 1 and 3. At the No. 1 position, junior Bronte Murgett (Holmfirth, Great Britain) and senior Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) defeated Anna Ross and Holly Staff, 6-3, while senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and senior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) won on court three, 6-2.
SINGLES
In singles play, Wright continued her winning ways as she won on court three over Anna Ross, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. With the win, Wright improves to 15-6 on the season in singles play.
Vanderbilt clinched the match following wins on court 1, 2, 4 and 6.
UP NEXT
Mizzou will now hit the road for the first time in SEC play, as the Tigers travel to Florida on Friday, March 12 and South Carolina on Sunday, March 14.
