COLUMBIA, MO. – Mizzou Women's Golf clinched their seventh consecutive team victory at their hosted-event, the Johnie Imes Invitational on Wednesday afternoon. The team jumped out of the gate to take the top spot on the leaderboard and maintain their position the entire event. This marks head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer 18th career tournament victory ending with a 1-over 865 (284-285-296).
In addition to the team title, Mizzou's second-team player, Keagan Dunn placed third overall after showcasing her career-best performance. A handful of Tigers followed her suit with four others – Noelle Beijer, Hallie Kuhns, Emily Staples, Sophia Yoemans and Martina Munoz – also recording personal records for either their round score, event score or event finish.
Mizzou's winning group was led by fifth year Noelle Beijer who kicked-off the event by firing a career-low round score in her first 18-holes with a 5-under 67. She followed that with an even-par 72 and 1-over 73 respectively in the next two days to finish tied for fourth place with a 4-under 212. This marks Beijer's first event under par since playing in the Jim West Challenge in her 2019 junior fall season.
Freshman Hallie Kuhns wasted no time showcasing her familiarity with the home course as she carded a pair of 1-under 71s in the opening rounds. Kuhns wrapped up the tournament with a 1-over 73 to claim her first Top-10 finish at T-8 after posting a 1-under 215 overall, marking her first career event under par.
Bouncing back from her 4-over first round, junior Sophia Yoemans went on to throw down two consecutive rounds under par, with a 69 and 71 to secure her career-best finish in 10th place. Sophomore Emily Staples' week was highlighted by her first day under par round with a new career-low 2-under 70. She carded an eagle on the second day after chipping it in from the fringe before heading into the turn. Staples ended the week 11-over and tied for 33rd place. Rounding out the first team was junior Bri Bolden who sandwiched a 1-over 73 with a pair of 80s to end at T-57.
Senior Keagan Dunn showed impressive consistency through the entirety of the event to have a show-stopping, career-best week. She fired all three rounds under par starting with a 2-under 70 followed by a pair of 3-under 69s to mark her new career-low round score. Her performance was anchored by 12 birdies and one eagle to solidify her third-place finish with an 8-under 208 overall score. Dunn snatched her first career event-under par and best 54-hole event score.
Sophomore Martina Munoz was the final Tiger to set new career heights when she shot a 4-over 76 to record her new 18-hole low score. She went on to finish with a 16-over 232 at T-53. Columbia native Olivia Sowers sunk six birdies between the last two rounds to end tied for 68th place with a 23-over 239.
Freshmen Julie Huggins, Isabela Cuisana and Kailyn Schell all made their career-debuts this week. Huggins posted a 15-over 231 to place tied for 47th, while Cuisana finished in T-68 with a 23-over 239. Schell competed as an individual and wrapped up her first collegiate event in 75th place.
