
Tennis Drops Match to No. 45 Ole Miss, 6-1

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Missouri (6-17, 1-9 SEC) lost a contest to No. 45 Ole Miss (10-8, 4-6 SEC), 6-1, on Friday evening.
The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Rebels, securing their first SEC doubles point of the season. Mizzou fought back after dropping the doubles match on court one. Ellie Wright and Romary Cardenas locked in their first SEC win of the season against Rachel Krzyzak and Lillian Gabrielsen, 6-4. Emelie Schwarte and Elys Ventura followed close behind with a win of their own, also the first SEC victory of the season for the duo. Ventura and Schwarte defeated Kelsey Mize and Ludmila Kareisova, 7-5. Missouri was unable to run with their 1-0 lead over Ole Miss, closely dropping all of the singles matches.
"Great match with Ole Miss today. We fought hard and earned the doubles point and then pushed them in singles" said head coach Chris Wootton. "We are holding a really high level at 5 spots in singles. This is going to give us a boost of confidence to get our next SEC win in Starkville!"
Mizzou stays in Mississippi as the team takes on No. 63 Mississippi State on Sunday, April 10, in the team's final regular season road match. The competition is slated to begin at noon. Live stats and streaming will be available as well as updates via Twitter (@MizzouTennis).
